A Stafford Springs man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage girls over a number of years.
William James Flint, 43, was found guilty on Monday by Judge Tejas Bhatt of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to a release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. Flint previously waived his right to a jury trial at Rockville Superior Court.
According to evidence at trial, Flint reportedly sexually assaulted two juveniles in Stafford Springs from 2014 to 2019.
Flint allegedly sexually assaulted a girl he knew when her caregiver wasn’t around, the arrest warrant affidavit said. He also allegedly sexually assaulted the girl’s friend when she visited, according to the warrant affidavit.
In one incident, he allegedly pinned one of the girls to a bed and covered her mouth so no one would hear her scream, the warrant affidavit said.
Previous Courant reporting said state police found out about the assaults after the first survivor’s classmate suspected something was wrong and talked to her about it. According to previous reports, the classmate went to law enforcement with her parents. The first survivor was 13 at the time and her friend, who was also assaulted, was 14.
Both survivors, now adults, testified during the trial that Flint sexually assaulted them both individually and together, the DCJ said.
One victim testified that Flint sexually assaulted her from 2014 to 2019. Â The other victim testified that he sexually assaulted her from 2014 to 2015, according to the DCJ.
Bhatt increased Flint’s bond to $450,000 after announcing the guilty verdict, the DCJ said. He is being held on bond while awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for March 10, 2026 at Rockville Superior Court.
Tolland State’s Attorney Craig P. Nowak prosecuted the case with the assistance of DCJ inspector John DiVenere and Det. Justine Cedergren of the Connecticut State Police.
