Single and ready to mingle?
WalletHub ranked the best and worst cities for singles in 2025, with two Connecticut locales making the list.
“To help America’s singles find love, WalletHub compared more than 182 U.S. cities across 35 key indicators of dating-friendliness,” according to WalletHub. “Our data set ranges from the share of the population that is single to the number of online dating opportunities to the average price for a two-person meal.”
For singles in New Haven, you are in luck: The Connecticut city ranked 59th overall, according to WalletHub. It is a solid ranking for a list of 182 cities, far from the worst of the worst. There are many dates places in the Elm City, with Yale University museums (mostly free), theaters, the shoreline, restaurants, a walkable downtown and lots of mass transit.
Bridgeport, however, was not as lucky. It was ranked 136th overall, according to WalletHub. Hmmm. it is known as the park city.

How about nationally? Atlanta, Georgia topped the list with a strong Fun & Recreation and Dating Opportunities Ranks, according to WalletHub. All the way at the bottom of the list was Brownsville, Texas, with a low Fun & Recreation Rank and the worst Dating Opportunities Rank.
“The already difficult process of finding the perfect partner can be made even tougher when cities lack the conditions necessary to make dating successful,” said Chip Lupo, WalletHub Analyst.
“The best cities for singles have large, gender-balanced single populations, along with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor, daytime and nighttime activities. They also have reasonable prices for dating activities or high average incomes to help ease the sting of inflation.”
