One person is dead and another was taken to a hospital following a head-on crash in Wallingford on Thursday evening.

The collision occurred on Grieb Road between Leigus Road and Fairlawn Drive where crews responded just before 6:30 p.m. on a report of a two-vehicle head-on crash, according to John Ventura, chief of the Wallingford Police Department.

The driver of a Saab, 38-year-old Jason Miller, was pronounced dead at the scene, Ventura said.

A preliminary investigation found that Miller was headed west on Grieb Road when the vehicle collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven in the opposite direction, according to Ventura. The driver of the Grand Cherokee, a 74-year-old man, was taken to a hospital for an evaluation, Ventura said. His condition was not immediately clear.

The crash remains under investigation by the police department’s Traffic Division. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Jim Knowlton at 203-294-2623.
