Project that provided lighting for tunnel on popular CT state park trail completed

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Connecticut Department of Transportation will mark the completion of the tunnel lighting project on Hop River State Park Trail this Thursday, Dec. 4, according to the organizations.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Hop River State Park Trailhead, according to a statement, which is located at the Bolton Notch State Park entrance in Bolton.

“The project enhances visitor safety and accessibility for walkers, runners, and cyclists by improving visibility in the curved tunnel, straddled by natural rock outcrops and watercourses,” according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

“The new lighting system is designed to operate in coordination with daylight and park hours, enhancing safety for visitors while preserving the park’s natural character,” the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection went on to say.
