A man who was struck and killed by four cars on Interstate 95 in Stamford earlier this month has been identified, state police said.

Jose Daniel Martinez-Perez, 34, of Stamford, was identified as the pedestrian who was killed on the highway in Stamford on Nov. 19.

Martinez-Perez was fatally struck by four vehicles on Interstate 95, three of which fled the scene.

Troopers responded to the area of I-95 North in Stamford just before 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 19, for a fatal motor vehicle collision, according to the Connecticut State Police.

A preliminary investigation determined that, for an unknown reason, Martinez-Perez was walking in the right travel lane of I-95 North by before Exit 6 when he was struck by a vehicle and thrown to the left part of the highway, state police said. According to state police, that vehicle left the scene.

The pedestrian was then struck by two other vehicles that left the scene, state police said.

A fourth vehicle that was merging from the center lane into the left lane during the incident was also unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The vehicle became disabled, and the driver remained at the scene, according to state police.
