A state police trooper was taken to the hospital after their cruiser was struck on Interstate 84 in Manchester on Monday by a driver who was later charged with DUI.
The crash occurred in the evening hours as the trooper’s cruiser was in the right shoulder of I-84 West near the Interstate 384 ramp, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said a driver struck the cruiser from behind. The trooper was taken to a hospital for injuries that were suspected to be minor, according to state police.
The driver who struck the cruiser reported minor injuries and was arrested on a driving under the influence charge, state police said. Their identity was not immediately released.
Part of the highway was shut down as emergency crews responded to the scene.
