For the first time in school history, Yale football will participate in the postseason.

The Bulldogs’ first-ever FCS playoff opponent will be Youngstown State, with the game set for Saturday, Nov. 29 at noon. The winner will face No. 2 overall national seed Montana State in the second round on Dec. 6.

Central Connecticut State (8-4, 6-1/NEC) also reached the playoffs after winning the NEC championship. The Blue Devils will travel to face Rhode Island (10-2, 8-0/CAA), the Coastal Athletic Association champion, also on Nov. 29 at noon. The winner of that matchup will face No. 8 seed UC Davis in the second round, also on Dec. 6.

Youngstown State, seeded No. 15 in the playoffs, earned an at-large bid after going 8-4 overall and finishing fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference. Yale (8-2, 6-1/Ivy) earned its way in after beating Harvard, 45-28 at the Yale Bowl on Saturday to clinch a share of the Ivy League title.

Harvard (9-1, 6-1/Ivy) earned an at-large bid, and will face No. 12 Villanova Nov. 29 at noon.

This is the first year Ivy League teams will participate in the playoffs after the conference voted to allow its teams to compete in the postseason this year for the first time.

The FCS bracket includes 24 teams, 16 of which are seeded. Yale, Central and Harvard were not seeded.
