All five of Connecticut’s Democratic U.S. House members have endorsed Ned Lamont’s bid for a historic third term as governor.
“Governor Ned Lamont is a proven leader who delivers real results for Connecticut. Since day one, he’s fought back against the Trump administration and its harmful policies, and most recently ensured that no family or senior in Connecticut is pushed closer to hunger despite attempts by the White House to restrict access to vital food assistance programs,” according to a joint-statement signed by Connecticut’s House delegation.
U.S. Reps. John Larson, Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes all signed the statement showing their continued support for Lamont. The two-term governor announced he will run for an unprecedented third term earlier this month after filing the necessary paperwork. The feat, which has only been accomplished once in the last 200 years, would make Lamont one of Connecticut’s longest serving governors if elected.

“When COVID hit, Governor Lamont led our state through that unprecedented crisis and has since signed some of the most ambitious and progressive legislation in Connecticut’s history, moving our state forward,” the joint statement said.
“When Trump issued an unprecedented halt work order delaying wind energy from coming to our state, Governor Lamont fought back and won, protecting jobs and lowering energy costs in Connecticut,” the joint statement added. “He understands that too many Connecticut residents are living paycheck to paycheck, which is why he has consistently fought for tax cuts and expanded tax credits. He knows we have to ease the burdens on working and retired people.”
Lamont could face a possible Democratic primary next August against state Rep. Josh Elliott of Hamden, who has signaled he will jump into the race. The two top Republican candidates are state Sen. Ryan Fazio of Greenwich and former New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart. Stewart recently kicked off her campaign for governor on Tuesday with a social media video.
“Recognizing that housing costs are one of the biggest barriers to opportunity, Governor Lamont has made strategic, targeted investments to increase housing supply and keep communities strong. He has accelerated the construction of quality, affordable homes and worked with local leaders to expand options near transit and job centers. His approach respects local decision-making while ensuring families, seniors and young people can afford to build their lives here in Connecticut,” according to the joint statement.
“Governor Lamont is the leader we need who will continue standing up to the Trump administration. Connecticut deserves a governor who will never back down, never waver, and never stop putting Connecticut first,” the joint statement said. “Governor Lamont has always had our backs, and we are proud to stand with him and support his re-election.”
