A state trooper has been re-arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident in Griswold in August.
Edward Gookin, 37, of Griswold was taken into custody on Tuesday on additional charges tied to the domestic incident including illegal discharge of a firearm, risk of injury to a child and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to the Connecticut State Police. He posted a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on Wednesday.
Gookin was initially arrested on Aug. 27 after troopers responded to a Griswold residence on the report of a domestic incident involving a man and a woman, state police said. Investigators found that a verbal and physical altercation had allegedly taken place, though no injuries were reported, according to state police.
Gookin was arrested after troopers found that he was allegedly the “primary aggressor” in the incident, state police said. He was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.
Following his August arrest, Gookin was placed on paid administrative duty “pending further investigation.”
