A New Britain man has been convicted of violating a judge’s order when he allegedly went to a victim’s home in 2024 despite a stipulation that he not contact them.

Richard P. Saja, 37, was found guilty of one count of criminal violation of a restraining order, according to the state Division of Criminal Justice. The verdict was returned Monday following a trial in New Britain Superior Court.

According to the DCJ, evidence introduced at trial showed that the victim in the case waved down a New Britain police officer who was on patrol on July 28, 2024. The victim alleged that Saja went to their home in violation of a restraining order that had been issued, which prohibited him from having contact with them, officials said.

Saja is scheduled to face sentencing on Jan. 15.

In a statement issued Wednesday, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney Christian M. Watson extended his “gratitude to the New Britain Police Department for its efforts in the investigation and prosecution of this matter.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Fallon, with assistance from Inspectors Edward Apicella and Felix Perez.
