A Vernon man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for convincing minors to send him explicit videos and images over Snapchat, sometimes in exchange for money.
Daryl Todd, 45, received the prison term, which will be followed by five years of supervised release, during a sentencing hearing on Nov. 5, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut said in a statement Tuesday.
In April, Todd accepted a plea deal that required him to plead guilty to receipt of child pornography.
According to federal officials, an investigation conducted by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force found that Todd used Snapchat to communicate with underage girls and entice them to send him explicit images and videos of themselves. At times, he would give them money in exchange for the content over Cash App, officials said.
Federal authorities said Todd would also send explicit images of himself to the minors. He was arrested in March 2024 after investigators found sexual images of girls on his cellphone and a tablet, officials said.
Todd is free on $100,000 bond and is required to report to prison on Jan. 7.
