Police: 19-year-old killed, three hospitalized following late-night crash in Branford

A 19-year-old East Haven man was killed in a late-night crash in Branford on Saturday, police said.

The Branford Police Department and Branford Fire Department responded to a call at about 11:50 p.m. on Saturday night at a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Main Street and Cedar Street, according to the Branford Police Department.

“One of the operators sustained severe injuries, and first responders immediately initiated life-saving measures,” police said. “Three people were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of injuries of the crash.”

The 19-year-old man, who suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision, has not identified at this time pending family notification, according to police.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time,” police said.

The Branford Police Department and the South Central Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit are investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information are asked to contact Officer Coutu at 203-481-4241.
