A Hartford man has been arrested in connection with a 2024 shooting that left a 23-year-old woman dead, officials said.

Jubul Walcott, 35, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter with a firearm, theft of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to the Hartford Police Department. He is being held on a $500,000 bond

On July 5, 2024 around 12:50 a.m., Hartford police officers were dispatched to 40 Cleveland Ave. on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an unidentified man and Shamyria Williams of Hartford. Williams was unresponsive on scene and transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The man was alert and conscious and also transported to an area hospital, police said.

During the investigation, police said that they determined both were seated inside a vehicle at the time of the shooting. Both Williams and the man were the unintended targets of the shooting, both stuck in crowded traffic and unable to escape the barrage of bullets, according to police.

As the investigation progressed, police said they were able to charge Walcott for Williams death.

On Friday, Walcott turned himself in at Hartford police headquarters after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
