Police have arrested a man after using his DNA to allegedly link him to a theft at a jewelry store in South Windsor in April.

Troy L. Coleman, 59, of Bloomfield was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant charging him with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree larceny, according to Lt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police Department.

Cleverdon said investigators believe Coleman and two other individuals broke into Hannoush Jewelers at 340 Buckland Road by smashing a window on April 14. They then allegedly broke display cases and stole about $65,000 worth of rings, watches and necklaces, according to Cleverdon.

Police were able to link Coleman to the crime through DNA he allegedly left at the scene, Cleverdon said. Investigators are still trying to identify the two others involved in the theft.

Coleman was taken into custody by officers with the Hartford Police Department and turned over to South Windsor police. He was then turned over to the North Haven Police Department in connection with additional warrants out for his arrest, Cleverdon said.

Coleman is expected to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 26 in connection with the theft allegations.
