Week 10 of high school football in Connecticut is upon us, and there are only a few more weeks until the playoffs begin Dec. 2 with quarterfinals in six divisions.
Rockville has a big Pequot Conference game against Cromwell/Portland, which will try to keep its unbeaten streak alive. The Weaver co-op takes on a CREC team that beat Rockville but lost to North Branford last week. And Maloney goes up against Southington in a CCC game.
Here are some of the top games to watch:
Rockville (6-1) at Cromwell/Portland (8-0), Friday, 6:30 p.m. at Pierson Park, Cromwell: Rockville is coming off a bye week after a 22-21 loss to CREC. The 22 points is the most the Rams’ defense has given up in a game this season. Cromwell/Portland has been averaging 44 points per game. Quarterback Michael Sitaro Jr. has thrown for 1,062 yards and 17 touchdowns and has rushed for 818 yards and 18 TDs.
Weaver Co-op (5-2) at CREC (5-3), at Comp Sci, 6 p.m., Friday: CREC was riding high after a win over Rockville but crashed last week with a 54-28 loss to North Branford. CREC is currently in ninth place in the Class SS standings and needs a win to climb back into the top 8 spots. Weaver is sitting in the fifth spot in Class L.
Lyman Hall (7-1) at Guilford (7-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: The third-ranked team in Class M (Guilford) faces the fourth-ranked team in Class M (Lyman Hall). Lyman Hall’s only loss was to Law while Guilford lost to Cheshire.
Maloney (5-3) at Southington (5-3), Friday, 6:30 p.m.: Coming off a big win over Windsor, Southington is ranked sixth in Class LL ahead of Danbury (5-3) and West Haven (4-4). Maloney is currently ranked 10th place in L behind two 5-3 teams, Amity and Fairfield Ludlowe. Both CCC teams need this win.
South Windsor (6-2) at Glastonbury (5-3), Friday, 6:30 p.m.: South Windsor has won its last six games after losing its first two to Hall and Windsor. Glastonbury has won its last two, including a 33-20 victory over Maloney last week.
