A man was arrested and accused of breaking into a home in Ledyard on Tuesday seeking money he believed the homeowner owes him.
Jacob Gincastro, 21, of Stonington faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny, according to Capt. Ken Creutz of the Ledyard Police Department.
Creutz said police received a 911 call at 10:42 p.m. from a woman who lives on Pumpkin Hill Road who said a man had broken into her home and was still inside. Responding officers found the man in the home’s attached garage and identified him as Gincastro, Creutz said.
Police believe Gincastro got into the home through an unlocked window and took cash from a bedroom, according to Creutz. He is also alleged to have broken things around the house.
Investigators learned that Gincastro and the homeowner are known to each other, according to Creutz. The break-in is believed to have stemmed over money Gincastro believes was owed to him, Creutz said.
Gincastro was held on a $50,000 bond pending a hearing on Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
