Police are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Danbury on Sunday which left a pedestrian seriously injured.
The crash occurred on Main Street in the area of Patch Street where officers responded on the report of a car versus pedestrian accident around 5 p.m., according to the Danbury Police Department.
Emergency crews found a pedestrian lying on the side of the road suffering from serious injuries, police said. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said the driver who was involved left the scene before officers arrived. The vehicle is believed to be a light colored sedan with front end damage which was last seen heading north on Main Street before turning right onto North Street, according to police.
Main Street was closed for several hours while the police department’s Accident Investigation Team was at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
Police have released a photo of the vehicle they believe was involved and are asking the public for help identifying the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Wakeman or Officer Wolen at 203-797-2157.
