A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Waterbury in September was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and local police on Monday.
Gerard Brown, 45, of Waterbury was located at residence on Shultas Place in Hartford on Monday morning by U.S. Marshals, the Hartford Police Department Swat Team and the Waterbury Police Department. according to Supervisor Deputy Matthew Duffy of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Brown was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Waterbury on Sept. 15, Officers responded to the report of shots fired outside of 94 Charles St. around 7:50 p.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
The man, identified as 29-year-old Frank Garay of Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Following an investigation, the Waterbury Police Department identified two suspects and obtained arrest warrants for Brown and 37-year-old Latroy Young of Hartford, officials said.
Young was located and taken into custody on Sept. 23 at G Style Lounge in Hartford by members of the Waterbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, Auto Theft Task Force, Gang Task Force, Crime Prevention Unit, Major Crimes Unit, the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force and the Hartford Police Department.
He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and was held on a $1 million bond.

According to Duffy, the Waterbury Police Department and the U.S. Marshals tracked Brown through neighboring states and Hartford.
Brown was taken into custody on Monday morning and transported to the Hartford Police Department where he was booked on charges of murder, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal discharge of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm and illegal sale/delivery/transfer of a firearm. He was being held on a $3 million court-set bond.
“The Waterbury Police Department remains committed to the community by solving heinous crimes and apprehending violent offenders in order to ensure safety to the public,” the department said in a release on Monday.
