CT man accused of operating drug factory out of CT trailer in ‘large amounts’

A man has been accused of operating a drug factory in Bridgeport after investigators searched a trailer and allegedly found more than 200 grams of cocaine.

The search was carried out Thursday shortly before 2 p.m. at a property located at 3 Armstrong Place where authorities had a search and seizure warrant, according to Lt. Jonathan A. Duharte of the Bridgeport Police Department.

Duharte said the search was conducted by the police department’s Narcotics and Vice Division and turned up 234 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials and $1,366.

Investigators believe 65-year-old Carlos Batista of Bridgeport was allegedly dealing “large amounts” of cocaine from a trailer on his property, according to Duharte.

Batista was arrested and charged with operation of a drug factory and possession with intent to sell a narcotic substances. His bail was set at $100,000.

“The Bridgeport Police Department remains committed to the safety of all its residents,” Duharte said in a statement.
