A family was left displaced following a house fire in Glastonbury on Monday that required mutual aid from a number of area fire departments.

Fire crews responded to a home on Cedar Ridge Drive at 3:09 p.m. and immediately requested mutual aid from the Manchester Fire Department after seeing a lot of smoke while en route, according to Michael Thurz, chief of the Glastonbury Fire Department.

Thurz said tankers were also brought in from the Hebron and Bolton Fire Departments, as the area of town does not have public water. When crews arrived they found a “well involved” fire at the home, which took about an hour to bring under control, according to Thurz.

Mutual aid was also provided by the Portland, Marlborough and Colchester Fire Departments, Thurz said. A mobile trailer carrying a foam agent was also brought to the scene with assistance from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Hartford Fire Department, according to Thurz.

No injuries were reported.

The fire left the home uninhabitable, Thurz said. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

A preliminary investigation found that the fire started in the garage underneath the home, Thurz said. The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Glastonbury Fire Marshal’s Office.
