Police: 18-year old woman dead, three others injured following shooting in New Haven

An 18-year old woman was killed and three other people were injured in a shooting in New Haven early Saturday.

Officers responded to gunfire in the area of Church Street and Center Street around 2:34 a.m. on Saturday, according to the New Haven Police Department.

Arriving officers located three gunshot victims that included a 21-year-old man and two 18-year-old women, police said. According to police, one of the 18-year-old women was pronounced dead. She has not been identified at this time. The two others were transported to an area hospital.

Shortly after, another 21-year-old man arrived at Yale New Haven Hospital in a private vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

According to police, investigators obtained camera footage which allegedly captured an exchange of gunfire between two people in the area of Church and Center Streets. “It did not appear the shooting victims were intended targets,” police said.
