Two people displaced following apartment fire in Waterbury

Two people were displaced following a fire at an apartment building in Waterbury early Friday.

Firefighters responded to a three-story apartment building at 480 South Main St. around 12:40 a.m. Friday, according to the Waterbury Fire Department.

Crews found that the flames had extended into the walls and had to open them up to access the fire, fire officials said. The damage led to two people being displaced.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents who were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Waterbury Fire Marshal’s Office.
