CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 19-year-old man is dead after a shooting in a neighborhood that left bullet holes in the side of a house, according to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at 36 John Ralph Lane in Cheraw. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Johnathon Alexander Williams dead with multiple gunshot wounds in his chest. Williams was allegedly shot as he was walking outside to go to work.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots around 7:30 p.m., but ‘didn’t think it was unusual because it happens all the time in their neighborhood,’ officials said.
One neighbor told law enforcement they saw a white Toyota Camry pulling out of the driveway at the residence. After processing the scene, SLED found 24 spent shell casings and five bullet holes in the side of the house.
Authorities said Williams lived at 374 Oak Street in Cheraw, which is about five miles from where the shooting took place.
