A 16-year-old girl was killed in a weekend crash in Loudoun County, police said.
Leilana Schwartz, of Lovettsville, was behind the wheel of a 1997 Honda Civic when she pulled into the path of a Volvo SUV heading west on Loudoun Street around 1:20 p.m. Saturday, June 1, Virginia State Police said.
Schwartz was turning left onto East Loudoun Street when she was struck by the Volvo, police said. She was seriously injured and later died. The Volvo driver was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The Leesburg Girls Softball League mourned Schwartz’s loss in a Facebook post. Affectionately known as “Leili,” Schwartz was a junior at Woodgrove High School and had been on the Bandits for many seasons.
