CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A one-year-old suffered serious injuries after getting hold of an improperly stored pistol, according to reports from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, officers responded to an apartment on Fairmarket Place off of The Plaza in east Charlotte.
Police say a one-year-old boy accessed a firearm that was not stored properly. The gun went off, seriously injuring and hospitalizing the boy.
According to the report, there are two suspects that are both related to the boy. Inside the residence, officers found two pistols and 2.1 grams of marijuana.
It is unclear if the young boy will fully recover from his injuries or how severe the injuries are.
